Privacy Policy
Setzy · Last updated 3 September 2026
Setzy is a workout tracker. This policy describes exactly what it stores, what leaves your phone, and what other people can see. It is written to be checked against the app rather than to cover us — where a thing is not shared, it says so plainly.
The short version. Your workouts sync to your own account so you can get them back on a new phone. Your progress photos never leave your device at all. Nobody sees anything about you unless you follow someone, publish a plan, or make a share link. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind — Setzy contains no analytics, attribution or crash-reporting software.
Who we are
Setzy is built and operated by Samuel Diny, an individual developer based in Wisconsin, United States. For anything in this policy — including a request to access, export or delete your data — contact privacy@setzy.app, and a person will read it.
What Setzy stores, and where
Setzy keeps your data on your phone first and syncs it to your account so a new phone can restore it. Three categories behave differently, and the difference is deliberate.
1. Kept on your device and synced to your account
Readable only by you. Protected by row-level security so that your account is the only one that can read these rows.
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Account | Email address, display name, handle, bio, and your profile picture if you set one |
| Workouts | Sessions, the exercises in them, and every set — weight, reps, duration, whether it was a warm-up |
| Plans | Your training plans, their days and the exercises on them |
| Exercises | Any custom exercises you create |
| Body | Body weight, body measurements, and any targets you set |
| Gyms | Gym names and the plates available at them |
2. Kept on your device only — never uploaded
Progress photos never leave your phone. There is no server table, no storage bucket and no upload path for them — not a setting that is switched off, but nothing on our side for them to go to. They live in the app's private storage, and deleting one deletes the file. If you delete the app or lose the phone, those photos are gone, including from us, because we never had them.
Your rest timer is also local, because a countdown running in your gym is not meaningful on another device.
3. Shared with other people — only when you choose it
Nothing here happens by default. Each is a separate action you take.
| If you… | Then these people see… |
|---|---|
| Share a finished workout to your followers | People whose follow you accepted see its title, duration, set count and total volume. They never see your individual sets. |
| Turn on Compare | People you have accepted see totals for the metrics you left switched on, one by one. Switching a metric off removes it — it is absent, not hidden or zeroed. |
| Create a share link for a workout | Anyone with the link, including people without Setzy, sees a public page with the workout's title, duration, set count, volume and personal-record count. It never contains your individual sets. You can revoke a link. |
| Publish a plan | Anyone using Setzy can find and adopt it, and sees it alongside your display name and handle. |
| Set a profile picture | Anyone who can see your profile, including on public share pages. Before it is uploaded, Setzy crops it, shrinks it to 512×512 and re-encodes it on your phone. The uploaded file carries no location, camera model, or capture date — the only technical data left in it describes the resized image itself, such as its dimensions and that it is the right way up. |
Your body measurements are never shared with anyone. Body weight, measurements and targets sync to your account so your own devices can read them, and there is no feature — Compare included — that discloses them to another person.
Apple Health and Health Connect
Connecting Health is optional and off until you turn it on. Setzy asks separately for each thing it needs, and you can revoke any of it in your system settings at any time.
- Writing workouts. When you finish a session, Setzy can add it to Apple Health or Health Connect as a workout with its start time, end time and title.
- Reading measurements. If you allow it, Setzy reads body weight, height, waist and body fat so you do not have to type numbers you have already recorded elsewhere.
Health data read from your phone is treated exactly like the measurements you type in: it syncs to your own account and is never shared with other people, never used for advertising, and never sold. Setzy does not read your workouts, heart rate, steps, sleep, or any health category not listed above.
Who else is involved
Setzy uses two service providers, and no others:
- Supabase hosts the database, authentication and file storage that hold your account.
- Cloudflare serves setzy.app, including share pages and this policy.
Both process data on our instructions in order to run the service. We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers or advertisers, or use it to build advertising profiles. There is no advertising in Setzy.
Age
Setzy is for people aged 16 and over. You are asked for your date of birth when you sign up, and an account under 16 is refused at the point of creation — no account, profile or data is created. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Deleting your data
Signing out does not delete anything. Your data stays on your account so that signing back in — on this phone or a new one — restores it.
Deleting your account deletes your data. Account → Delete account, from inside the app. It removes your workouts, sets, plans, body weight, measurements, targets, gyms, custom exercises, profile picture, posts and profile, and the device's local copy. Two things are handled differently, and deliberately:
- Plans you published stay up, anonymised. Other people have adopted them and are training on them. The listing survives with the author shown as "Deleted user"; nothing linking it to you remains.
- Your handle is retired rather than freed, so nobody can later take it and be mistaken for you.
Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Backups taken before the deletion are overwritten on their normal rotation.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict its processing.
- Export is built in and needs no request: Account → Export your data produces a ZIP of CSV files containing your workouts, sets, plans and measurements.
- Deletion is built in, as above.
- For anything else, email privacy@setzy.app.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting provider. Access to your rows is enforced by database-level row security rather than only by the app, so a request for someone else's data returns nothing rather than relying on the app not to ask. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, for anything that changes what is shared or with whom, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
